I thought it would be fun to introduce you to a side of my life only a few get to see. All of you have seen our fleet of race cars, many of you have visited the shop during many of my constructions, but I thought it would be fun to bring you home with me for a day. What started this crazy idea is I was in the stands at Bowling Green with Vance Hunt and there was a guy that yes actually asked us, was this our first trip to the races. So with out any more interruptions.. WELCOME
to my World!
Here we have a shot of two cars you are familiar seeing me with, the rear engine car Ross drives, and the company car
my front engine dragster. Setting in front of our work shop. You
can also see two of our trailers and the old Suburban used since 78 to haul the Ragland's to the races. Yes we never get rid of anything!
Oh ! how many of you remember me in American Graffiti?
If you said yes, we need to talk. I was not in the movie, but it is my favorite. Here I am with Millner's coupe at the Hot Rod Reunion
this year.
Now I have had some call our home the shrine to Drag Racing,
here is a shot of Guyniece's and my living room. You make the call.
My indoor work area is full of all kinds of stuff. All the model cars are assembled here. Yes those were model kits in the first photo. No die cast in my home. The pile of National Dragsters are dated 1970. I am currently working on a restoration project with a group on the west coast. The orange tray is one of 7 that contain all the history of Ardmore Dragway. There are 37 photo albums crammed full of nothing but drag cars in that closet.
Believe it or not there is actually a complete New Front engine dragster stored in this room.
Out in the garage you will find my first dragster, the cabinet below is filled with every type of drag racing magazine dating back to 1953.Yes that is Flo Dotson's pink helmet donated by a fan and preserved with other pink items stored here for the family.
On the opposite side of the garage are a number of racing posters, pictures and yes that is the real poster from the 11th annual Cow Pasture Nationals.
Thanks for coming by,call me a pack rat or a fool, I just love drag racing. So if you have any old drag race items around the house to toss out; you have found the right man..Thanks for visiting and I will see you at the races..Rob
