As we look back years from now the 2009 racing season at Ardmore Dragway could be reflected one as the year of rejuvenation. Fans traveled as far away as Norway to witness
the closest points battle in recent history, and the exciting special events that were held throughout the 2009 season.
The battle cry of the new generation was heard, Ardmore Dragway is here to stay. Racers were treated with many new
amenities this past season. New pit area's, more lighting, clean showers, a fresh new look ,and a racing surface that produced back to back E.T.'s and reaction times.
Here is a look back at the 2009 memorable year.
March was the beginning of our fun drags and bracket racing season.
Despite a rainy start Ardmore Dragway's first special event was The Red River Shootout. It featured a battle between Texas and Oklahoma street racers, Stereo contest, and a Live stage show.
Ardmore Dragway racers also supported many city wide functions throughout the year.
Live Bands Pretty Pin Up Girls and Traditional Hot Rods were the
main during the White Walls and Drags meet.
Ardmore Dragway also hosted stop two on the ODRA race schedule.
Beat the Heat, Guns and Hoses Tour made a stop at Ardmore Dragway during the month of August.
Also highlighting the hot August nights were the very popular Texas Volkswagen Racing Association.
Junior Dragsters was the buzz on August 29, young racers from Texas and Oklahoma packed the pits for a night of family fun hot dogs and great racing.
Hundreds of Nostalgia race cars thrilled the packed house of
fans during the fourth annual Ardmore Hot Rod Reunion during Labor day weekend.
It took two attempts to put the 37th annual Cow Pasture nationals in the record books. The emotional roller coaster provided one of the best finals ever.
All of this plus car show's, motorcycle rallies, swap meets and old fashion arm drop races were just part the the historical 2009
Ardmore Dragway season.
Unfortunately the 2009 season was not with out the loss of dear friends, Frank Reinnauer,Steve Russell, Gerald Ellis,Carolyn Burnette and others who accomplishments and dedication to be Ardmore Dragway will be missed.
The future is here at Ardmore Dragway thanks to you the racer, spectators and sponsors. Ardmore Dragway also wants to recognize it's staff. These guys and gals work the long days to put on the show week in and week out.
