As everyone knows the 37th annual Cowpasture Nationals have been rained out, and are re scheduled for October 18. For those of us who were defeated before the rains came, our season is kinda washed up, for the others it's two weeks of living with those pesty butterflies. In my opinion Ricky made the hardest decision as a track owner that has faced him to this point. There is a lot of money at stake, a lot of out of town racers, Fall has arrived early and the days of racing left are numbered. I believe he made the correct call.
Now this is not the first Cowpature rained out, no not by a long shot. I only hope that it can be finished this year.
In 1981 it took 6 months to finish the 9th annual Cowpasture
Nationals. Going onto that race Tom Bowling led me by two rounds in points, Joe Trammell was hot on my heals at two more rounds. At 20years old that was the longest 6 moths of my life. I think I still have a ulcer. Any way we finally ran a make up race in March of 82. I did win the race but Tom went enough rounds to win the points championship.
1981 points winners. Supper Pro #1 Tom Bowling, #2 Rob Ragland, #3 Joe Trammell, #4 Ken Dotson, #5 Flo Dotson
#6 Don Madron, #7 Charlie Cathcart, #8 Darryle Modesto.
Pro Eliminator
#1 Floyd Cannon, #2 Kirk Piepke, #3 Terry Teague, #4 John Grussel, #5 Garry Gieb, #6 Phill Cook, #7 Jimmy Jones, #8
Larry Wilson.
Larry Sharp was the street Eliminator Champ, and Steve Russell was the Bike Champ.
1981 points winner Tom Bowling and 2nd place Rob Ragland.
Good luck to everyone still in competition at the 37th annual Cowpasture nationals.
